Yoga Teacher and Sacred Seeds mentor and teacher
Ashtanga Vinyasa and Mysore
I have been teaching Yoga for over 20 years, and teaching Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga in Hobart since 2003. After completing a visual arts degree, it was during my stint in the film industry in the mid 1980s that I became drawn to the art of yoga, beginning in earnest with Hatha Yoga, to Iyengar, then Oki (Ryoho) Yoga and then finally Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga. In 1991, I began teaching Oki Yoga in Sydney after having learnt how to teach over a number of years through the traditional apprenticeship method of training, which I continued to do with Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga.
During the 1990's I was fortunate to study with the late Sri K Pattahbi Jois, and also learnt extensively from Eileen Hall and Graeme and Leonie Northfield; overall, I have clocked up 4,000 hours of teacher training. I say this because I never stop growing or learning. I appreciate being able to utilise my understanding of the body through my previous work as a Senior Shiatsu Therapist. More recently I have drawn from my years as a Psychotherapist and Counsellor to be able to recognize and support individuals' psychological presentations during their practice.
